- March meeting minutes were circulated. There were no questions or objections.
- Faydeen presented the updated monthly financials.
Parent Issues
- One parent brought up the fact that Millie Nash who teaches the BEAM program at Marshall Simonds is retiring and the program will be cut from the school budget. This parent asked for parents to attend the School Committee meeting and voice their concerns about BEAM being cut from the budget.
- One parent brought up the concern that there will only be four (4) fifth grade classes next year with between 23-24 students. The other elementary schools in town have approximately 18 kids per fifth grade class. The parent encouraged parents to attend the School Committee meeting and voice their concerns over class sizes and the need for an additional fifth grade teacher at Francis Wyman.
- One parent asked when MCAS results would be issued. Mrs. Burns said late summer and early fall are when the results are sent home to parents.
Teacher Issues
- Jean Perry discussed the 5th grade trip to Camp Borndale in September. This will be a 3-day 2-night trip to the camp in South Plymouth with emphasis on science & education based programs. Jean requested a contribution from the PTO to help cover buses for the trip and possibly for scholarships for students. Faydeen asked for more information on cost, and Jean will get back to her with that information.
