Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at Francis Wyman Elementary School. We are excited to begin this year
with many new faces. We hope you and your child(ren) will build many positive relationships and experiences
over the next year.
The Francis Wyman Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) strives to enhance children's educational foundations.
We are dedicated to the development of closer relationships between parents, teachers, and students and continually
enhance the learning environment to instill a sense of pride, mutual respect, and school spirit.
Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources and services that will
enrich and maximize the education of every child. Each year, the PTO organizes several fundraisers to support
our school. Last year we participated in a Gift/Wrap sale, the Fall Marketplace (provides the Burlington
community a chance to shop with talented vendors and crafters from all over New England), the spring Family
Carnival, the Scrip gift card program, Box Tops for Education and Target-Take Charge of Education® .
The PTO used the funds raised through these events and programs to support:
- Busing for field trips
- Artist in Resident/Author Visits
- Camp Bournedale Scholarships
- Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
In order to achieve our goals we need the volunteer efforts of the parent and
teacher community. You can become involved by participating in some or all of the following ways:
- Support the PTO by submitting the $20.00 per family "School Dues". This can be done
on-line via PayPal or by check, sending in the envelope that will be enclosed
in your student informational packet or one marked "PTO" to the front office.
- Attend the PTO meetings. Please check the website for dates and times.
- Participate on a PTO Committee. Click here for a list of
committee descriptions.
- Volunteer to help at various PTO sponsored events throughout the year.
We will continue to send out emails and post information on our website.
(We use a professional email newsletter service, so your email address will never be shared).
As you can see we are a busy group that is about more than just bake sales. We're about parents and
teachers working together toward a common goal. That goal, simply stated, is creating a better school
and a better education that allows our students to do their best work. There is so much that needs to
be done and we need your help. Please come and join us as we make a difference.
With Best Regards,
Rose Hatch, Co-President
Tamara Maniscalco , Co-President
Susan Astone, First Vice President
Sharon Duggan, Second Vice President
Nancy Potter-Geswell, Treasurer
Cheryl Johnson, Secretary
